Our SCM group encompasses scholars with diverse research portfolios, ranging from primarily OR/MS or mathematical (such as one of our recent hires, Angelos Tsoukalas) to empirical OM/SCM (such as another recent hire, Leopold Ried). RSM is one of the highest-ranking business schools in Europe in terms of education programs and research quality and output. Research support includes generous means for conference attendance, data collection and research visits; an IT research support team; and a system where research time of faculty is structural.

As SCM group we have strong connections especially in the logistics and maritime sectors, leveraging Rotterdam's position as biggest port in Europe and RSM's extensive network of alumni. Our SCM MSc program is consistently ranked in the top 5 worldwide. RSM offers a broad spectrum of responsive student audiences (Bachelor, Master, MBA, Executive, PhD) and teaching offers excellent opportunities for engagement and impact creation, such as in our MSc thesis projects. Courses typically last up to 7 weeks, allowing for longer periods for research. The regular teaching load is lower compared to peer institutions.

Our renewed tenure track system offers Assistant Professors the possibility to obtain tenure after three years, resulting in additional research budget ('starter grant'). Requirements for tenure (and promotion) focus on quality and are comparable to other top business schools.
Rotterdam is a dynamic, multicultural city with more than 600,000 inhabitants. The city offers an interesting mix of historical buildings and modern architecture, and hosts many cultural and sports events such as the North Sea Jazz festival, and the Rotterdam marathon. It has a diverse restaurant scene, and is easy to navigate on foot or bike, while public transport is widely and frequently available.

While being a large organization, RSM is characterized by a collegial and open culture, and we respect work freedom and work-life balance. In our SCM group, we have a high level of collaboration, and a strong admin team to support finance, HR and teaching. We have more than 10 different nationalities in our team, which consists of some 30 faculty members, around 15 PhD students plus adjunct faculty and visiting scholars.

This year's search committee is headed by Jelle de Vries and you can reach out to him for enquiries. We will have group members attending, among others, the  INFORMS Annual Meeting in Phoenix in October and the Decision Sciences conference in November (Atlanta). We look forward to hearing from you!
