Crypto, Blockchain, AI in Operations Management
AOM OSCM Asia team is delighted to announce a virtual seminar, with the first seminar entitled: Crypto, Blockchain, AI in Operations management taking place on March 16, 2023, 9-11:00 am (UTC+8), (Mar 15, 8-10 pm EST) (Through Zoom)
The broad goals of the session are: a) to introduce leading scholars' perspectives on the emerging trends of blockchain and AI in operations management, b) to encourage participants to think about new methodological approaches and research questions addressing them, and c) to connect OSCM scholars in Asia.
There will be three main focus for the sharing.
1. Crypto stands for Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are innovative financial innovations that have the potential to change the digital economy. There is an increasing attention from operational scholars to the field including fee volatility. This sharing is aimed to better understand the role of cryptocurrencies in operations management and to identify ways in which they can be effectively integrated into business operations.
2. Blockchain as a distributed ledger technology is becoming a feasible component of corporate digitalization for a growing number of businesses, and operational scholars could analyze blockchain applications developed in support of operational capabilities, how they are implemented in a specific operation, and how they are likely to affect a broad range of stakeholders.
3. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that entails the development of intelligent machines capable of performing tasks that ordinarily require human intelligence. Machine learning (ML) fuels modern AI and exhibits a strong impact on various business sectors. This sharing is aimed to articulate how AI/ML would expand the boundaries of empirical operations management research.
The panel will talk for 90 minutes followed by a question-and-answer session.
