    Position Description

The IT, Analytics, and Operations (ITAO) Department, at the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business, announces 2 open rank tenured/tenure track positions. The candidates must have a PhD in Operations Management, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Social Sciences, or related field.

The ideal candidate has a strong record of interesting and impactful scholarship. This entails significant publication success at premier outlets, and/or a strong pipeline of interesting and rigorous research relevant to business applications. Preference will be given to individuals whose research complements the interests of our existing faculty. Candidates pushing the envelope in exciting boundary spanning areas at the intersection of business, computational social science, network science, human-centered artificial intelligence, experimentation methods, civic media, human dynamics, and social and environmental research are encouraged to apply.

The ITAO Department is home to a diversity of approaches and backgrounds making for a vibrant research environment, which results in frequent, compelling, and unique collaborative research projects among our faculty. The department also houses the Human-centered Analytics Lab (HAL), Gaming Analytics Lab (GAMA), and the Humanitarian Operations Lab (HOPE) is in development.

In addition, our ideal candidates must have demonstrated success in the classroom with an interest in teaching in areas related to IS, OM, and/or Analytics, broadly defined. In addition to its PhD program in Analytics, the ITAO Department offers an undergraduate major in Business Analytics, a Business Technology undergraduate minor, and three Masters of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) programs (a one-year executive-style in Chicago, a one-year pre-professional South Bend program, and a one-year MSBA with a focus in Sports Analytics). The Mendoza College of Business is home to a highly-regarded Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program, for which we offer a major in Business Analytics and a minor in Supply Chain & Operations Management.

The ITAO Department is an integral part of the University of Notre Dame's interdisciplinary efforts to make an impact on scholarship and society through data analytics, artificial intelligence, and computationally-intensive research.  There are numerous collaborative opportunities, such as the possibility of affiliate faculty status in other departments, the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society, and the Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center (NDTEC). ITAO researchers enjoy generous allocations of resources from Notre Dame's Center for Research Computing and the support of a staff of three full-time Mendoza College of Business data scientists and a director of behavioral research who oversees the Mendoza Behavioral Lab.

The teaching load is 9 credit hours per year. Salary and research budget are highly competitive, with generous summer support based on research productivity.
