    Position

As part of a continuing growth initiative, the Department of Management of Tilburg University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Supply Chain Management. We are looking for candidates with exceptional research potential and strong teaching ability, whose work fits our orientation towards operations and supply chain scholarship from a managerial and empirical perspective. (This is NOT a position in operations research; our school includes a separate department in Econometrics and Operations Research.) We are able to hire applicants to join the Department in any month during 2018. ABD applicants are expected to have earned their Ph.D. prior to taking up employment.

    Department and Conditions

The Department of Management is part of the School of Economics and Management at Tilburg University. As a whole, the department consists of 31 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and 10 lecturers. Within the department, the Information and Supply Chain Management section conducts research in the field of operations and supply chain management, as well as information management and information systems, from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives. The current members of the department, including its Information and Supply Chain Management section, are listed at www.tilburguniversity.edu/mgt. During 2016-2017 the department hired seven tenured or tenure-track scholars with a variety of backgrounds: Sangho Chae (from Arizona State U.) and Marianna Frangeskou (from U. of Bath) in supply chain management, Amin Amiri (from U. of British Columbia) and Spyros Angelopoulos (from Warwick U. via U. of Lugano/Swiss National Science Foundation) in information management, and Erkko Autio (also at Imperial College London), Lien Denoo (from Ghent U. via U. of Southern California), and Ningxin (Jennifer) Wang (from Hong Kong U. of Science and Technology) in other areas of management. The Department also has a high-caliber set of emeritus and affiliated faculty and fellows (including Christoph Bode). Department members come from leading universities in North America, Asia and Europe. The working language of the department and school is English.

The department has a very strong research orientation with a focus on high-quality publications. We aim to maximize the research time available to research-active faculty, and working conditions are otherwise comparable to major research universities in Europe and North America. The teaching load for pre-tenure faculty is the equivalent of two courses plus guidance of Bachelor and Master's thesis projects, in total per year (40% teaching time). Time allocation for more senior faculty is a function of individual performance and preferences, but research towards publication in top journals remains a priority at all ranks. Compensation is competitive with similar schools, and we provide guaranteed travel and initial research budgets. Faculty moving to the Netherlands may be eligible for a large tax abatement for a period of eight years.

    Tilburg University and Area

The campus provides a green, academically centered environment with convenient transportation.
