Studies, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, BC
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions at the Beedie
School of Business in the following areas:
1. Innovation at the “Base of the Pyramid”:
This research program aims to develop a theory of product, service and
business model innovation that allows organizations to meet the needs of
the “base-of-the-pyramid” segments profitably, sustainably, and in
socially responsible ways. The research is being carried out in
partnership with several academic and non-academic institutes around the
world. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline; a strong
interest in inclusive growth and economic development issues in emerging
markets; and possess mastery of qualitative research methods (including
interviews, fieldwork, surveys, case-study research and grounded theory).
Familiarity with randomized control experiments and/or statistical methods
would be a plus. Willingness to travel for fieldwork, likely in developing
countries in Asia, Africa or Latin America, would be an asset to the
research program.
2. Sustainability and Social Responsibility in Global Supply Chains:
This research program is aimed at developing long-term solutions for
sustainable global supply chains. The research employs both analytical
modeling and empirical methods. Candidates should have a record of
publications and/or demonstrated interest in pursuing substantive research
on related topics. Candidates must have a PhD in a related discipline, and
possess strong modeling, analysis and computational skills with
demonstrated capabilities in at least one of the following: economic and
game theoretic modeling, simulation and optimization, or econometrics.
The positions are for one year, with possibility of renewal depending on
performance and budget availability. A 2-year position could be negotiable
for the right candidates.
The candidates will work under the supervision of Prof. Sudheer Gupta. The
candidates will have joint appointment as fellows at the Jack Austin
