Greetings again from the Academy of Management (AoM) Conference in Atlanta!
The Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) Division is very excited about this year's schedule. While we highlight only our events here, don't forget that a key benefit of AoM is the ability to interact directly with top scholars from other disciplines "At the Interface" of OSCM.
Monday was a dynamic day, beginning with a breakfast and meet the editors session, which I heard was informative for attendees. The plenary by Linda Argote of Carnegie Mellon was inspiring
The paper sessions that I attended were very interesting and well-attended. Congratulations to the three winners of paper awards:
The Chan Hahn Best Paper Award went to:
"Supply Disruption Management: The Early Bird Catches the Worm, but the Second Mouse Gets the Cheese?"
Christoph Bode, Mannheim U.
Maximilian Merath, Mannheim U.
The Best Student Paper went to:
"A Multiple Case Study of Development Supply Chains for Household Solar Products Sold in Haiti"
James Knuckles, Cass Business School, City U. London
ManMohan Sodhi, Cass Business School, City U. London
And, finally, the ISM Best Paper in Supply Chain Management went to:
"Supply Chain Risk and Risk Mitigation: Which Strategies Tackle Identified Risks Most Efficiently?"
Michael Westerburg, Mannheim U.
Christoph Bode, Mannheim U.
These sessions were interesting and well-attended; congratulations to the finalists as well!
While AoM is winding down, there are more interesting paper sessions today; please see your programs!
Next year is in Chicago. Please consider submitting papers and/or creative Professional Development Workshop (PDW) sessions. The deadline is early-mid January for both, so please be thinking now about ideas. Reach out to Rachna Shah of University of Minnesota with PDW ideas.
Thanks again to our sponsors for allowing us to put on such a nice conference. All indications are that we will be able to do the same, and possibly more, in 2018.
Enjoy the rest of the conference
