    Hi everyone,

We'll be hosting a panel and related Professional Development Workshop (PDW) on "Luck, Serendipity, and Chance in Strategy Research: Where Are We Now, and Where to go from Here" at this year's Academy of Management Annual Meeting. It will feature inspiring "sparks" from leading management thinkers such as Henry Mintzberg, Melissa Schilling, Shaz Ansari, Christina Fang, Raghu Garud, and Chengwei Liu (part 1; both in-person and virtually/open to all), as well as the opportunity to receive feedback on your evolving ideas (part 2; in person/application necessary). (August 5; 8am PDT, registration link: bit.ly/aomserendipity).

Please find more information below and please do reach out in case you have any questions, either to Madeleine (rauch@stanford.edu) or Christian (christian.busch@nyu.edu). We'd be delighted to have you with us!

    Warm regards,

    Madeleine and Christian

This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) will focus on serendipity, luck, and chance in the management and strategy context. The first part of the PDW is a facilitated panel discussion with leading academics studying serendipity, luck, and chance from different methodological and theoretical perspectives (in person and virtual). The focus of the panel discussion is to highlight current research and ideas for interesting further research possibilities, as well as how to navigate the related review process. We will end this first part with reflections by an eminent strategy scholar (Henry Mintzberg). Part 1 is open to all participants.

In the second part of this PDW, participants will attend a pre-selected roundtable facilitated by an experienced scholar in the field. Participants who wish to participate in the individualized feedback session will need to submit a proposal (2 pages). This part will only be in person. We will only be able to accept a small group of participants for part 2/the round table discussions, as such we encourage early submission.
