The Industry Studies Association's ISA 2023 Conference is coming in just two weeks! https://isa1.memberclicks.net/isa-conferences

Please review the amazing program we have assembled for the Industry Studies Association Conference, to be held right at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.

We have an inter-disciplinary group of thought leaders, including policymakers, from around the world.

The Industry Studies Association is an offshoot of the Sloan Foundation Studies that included the MIT Motor Vehicles group that produced The Machine that Changed the World, the UC-Berkeley semiconductor studies, and the Wharton banking studies.

We have a very heavy focus on public policy this year, with our theme: Reconceptualizing Competition: Nation, Region, Firm, and Individual

    • A plenary on US industrial strategy, moderated by Peter Coy of the New York Times and featuring current and former policymakers
    • A plenary on the NSF's National Network for Critical Technology Assessment, funded by its new Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) directorate, which seeks academics to partner with public policymakers in key industries, with Erica Fuchs of Carnegie Mellon. The industries covered by this are pharmaceutical, semiconductors, advanced batteries, and artificial intelligence
    • A plenary on public policies and supply chain resilience, with Sue Helper of the White House Office of Management and Budget and Liz Reynolds of MIT, formerly Special Assistant to President Biden for Manufacturing and Industrial Policy
    • A special session about the innovative work of JobsOhio as a state-level economic development engine, with JobsOhio VP Andrew Deye
    • A special session Ohio State's BRIGHT MBA program as an innovative approach to addressing K-12 education in high-poverty schools, with directors Ben Campbell and John Rensink, and 1-2 alumni
    • A special session on Industrial Policy and the Role of the State, with Steve Currall of Harvard and Robert Hockett of Cornell (and Forbes)

And, TWO receptions: One at The 'Shoe (100-year old Ohio Stadium, which seats over 100,000), and one on a downtown rooftop!!

And, many great paper presentations and panels.
