    2020 IPSERA Doctoral Workshop

     

    We would like to welcome PhD students to attend the Doctoral Workshop organized on Sunday April 5, 2020 in Knoxville. The objective of the workshop is to assist PhD students in developing and improving their research projects and in building an international network of fellow PhD students and renowned faculty.

    Participating students will have the opportunity to present their research proposals, which will be discussed by their colleagues and senior faculty. During the day, they will also benefit from keynote speeches related to methods, purchasing and supply chain management topics, and the publication process. At a meet the editors session, journal editors will present their ideas on how to be successful in the publication process.

    The Doctoral Workshop coordinators are Prof. Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen and Prof. Davide Luzzini.

     

    APPLY TO THE DOCTORAL WORKSHOP

    STEP 1 – Statement of interest

    Doctoral candidates interested in attending and presenting their research proposals should submit a brief statement of interest by November 15, 2019, containing name, affiliation, PhD supervisor(s), title and brief description of the research project, stage in the doctoral program. Please send this statement of interest to Prof. Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen (anni-kaisa.kahkonen@lut.fi) and Prof. Davide Luzzini (dluzzini@eada.edu).

     

    STEP 2 – Research proposal / PhD dissertation paper

    A full research proposal or a paper (max. 20 pages) that is part of the PhD dissertation has to be submitted before January 2, 2020. The full research proposal will be reviewed and a maximum of 24 proposals will be accepted for presentation in the workshop. Apart from these 24, there is plenty of room for non-presenting PhD candidates to participate in the workshop as auditors. Review criteria include clarity, review of relevant literature, thoughtful discussion of research methods, and stage of the research. The notification of the acceptance will be emailed by January 22, 2020.

     

    COSTS & BURSARIES

    The option to join the Doctoral Workshop is included in the IPSERA Conference fee. The PhD students presenting at the workshop are expected to join the main conference in the subsequent days. The PhD students presenting at the workshop will have the first priority to the reduced conference fee of €200. We offer the reduced fee for 25 PhD students. After the Doctoral Workshop participants, the reduced fee for other PhD students will be given in the order of registration. To receive a reduced PhD fee send an email to Prof. Anni-Kaisa Kähkönen (anni-kaisa.kahkonen@lut.fi) together with a confirmation of enrollment in your respective doctoral program. You will then receive a code to register for the PhD fee through the regular IPSERA registration website.

     

    PhD students also have the possibility to receive bursaries that support the conference and workshop attendance. More information about the available bursaries from Assistant Prof. Antonella Moretto (antonella.moretto@polimi.it). All applications will be treated confidentially. The deadline for application for these bursaries is January 2, 2020, midnight, Central European time. Decisions to all applicants will be made by January 22, 2020. Note that all students receiving reduced rates or bursaries are expected to attend the entire conference.
