Dear Ph.D students and Junior Faculty colleagues,

We hope you are doing well during this time. For all of us, there has been a large amount of adjustment and flexibility needed while teaching online from home with our families constantly nearby (or far away).

While we had already started planning to move the Symposium online, the announcement a couple of weeks ago that the entire AOM conference would be moved online was a call higher.

The purpose of this message is to share the changes that we will be implementing to keep the heart of the Symposium firmly fixed in our sights and offer meaningful value, encouragement, and learning to you as participants and your mentors.

    • The date of the Symposium remains Friday, August 7. While the specific timing is yet to be determined, it will be 3 hours in duration likely to be held in the early AM for North and South America, PM-Midday to Afternoon for Europe, Africa, and Western Asia, and PM-Evening for much of Eastern Asia and Australia. Yes, we realize that time zones can be an issue. When we meet up, we can enjoy bonding over our "virtual jetlag" with coffee in-hand!
    • There will be three components to the symposium this year: some asynchronous pre-work regarding podcasts with prominent journal Editors, live (synchronous) incubator mentoring sessions, and a live moderated discussion on Learning from the Giants with Prof. Mark Pagell, Professor of Sustainable Supply Chain Management, University College Dublin, Ireland.
    • We are excited to have received close to a normal amount of applications (about 80%), and have tendered acceptances to those that applied by the deadline. Some of you weren't sure about applying for the consortium due to the uncertainty of our plans. Additionally, we are now not constrained by room size as in a physical conference. Therefore, we are pleased to provide an extended application timeline!
      • June 17th - Extended 1st round application due date. For submission guidelines, see: https://oscm.aom.org/events/consortium
      • July 10th. The due date for longer abstracts from accepted participants.
      • July 24th. Incubator group matches will be completed and sent out to mentors.
      • August 7th. The Consortium!

As all of us work through this, we will need your creativity and feedback! We can have fun doing things differently this year.

Please feel free to contact either one of us should you have any questions.

We are sorry not to see all of you in person, but will still enjoy providing the opportunity for you.

Warm regards from our homes in Colorado and The Netherlands,

    John and Desirée
