  • 1.  3 Harvard postdoc opportunities on business & climate change, EVs, and corporate net zero efforts

    Posted 27 days ago

I'm writing to announce three postdoc opportunities with ongoing searches. All are one-year postdoctoral fellowship with no teaching responsibilities for the academic year 2025-2026, with the possibility of a one-year renewal. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis. Please forward to qualified candidates.

Two of these postdoc opportunities are based in the D^3 Climate and Sustainability Impact Lab of the Digital Data Design (D^3) Institute at Harvard. The mission of this Lab is to advance understanding of how digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in management and governance practices deliver measurable financial, environmental, and social performance. Candidates should have demonstrated research interests in business and climate/sustainability topics, and be willing to dedicate at least 50% of their time to lab-related research projects with the D^3 C&SI Lab-affiliated faculty.

One D^3 postdoc will work with Shirley Lu, Aliya Korganbekova, Christian Kaps, George Serafeim, Mike Toffel, or Peter Tufano on topics related to their research areas in the Lab.  The Lab's activities focus on new products, services, and businesses that promote decarbonization and/or climate adaptation, and climate finance-especially how climate-induced risks might be shared between insurers, governments, and households. More info and apply here: https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/14709

The second D^3 postdoc will work with Mike Toffel and Christian Kaps on the adoption and use of electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and other aspects of the electrification of transportation. More info and apply here:  https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/14570

The third postdoc opportunity is offered by the Corporate Net-Zero Targets Project of the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard, a cross-university research collaboration whose Principal Investigators include Harvard Business School professors George Serafeim and Mike Toffel, Harvard Kennedy School professor Joe Aldy, and Harvard Law School professors Jody Freeman and Carrie Jenks. This postdoc will spend at least half their time working on research projects with some of these PIs on research in this Project. Research topics include data-intensive empirical evaluations of: drivers of corporate adoption of emission targets; corporate emission-cutting strategies, including decarbonization investment, divestment, and offsets; and, environmental, financial, and economic impacts of voluntary corporate emission reductions. Candidates should have demonstrated research interests in these topics. While this is posted at AEA, candidates from a broad array of disciplines including economics and others are encouraged to apply.
