    The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, located in New London, Connecticut, invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Supply Chain Management. The Academy seeks an individual dedicated to teaching and to the intellectual development of students. This faculty member will develop, teach and assess curriculum that are common to undergraduate business.     The major duties will be to develop, teach, and assess curriculum that are common to under graduate business classes. Examples of courses or content may include Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Research Methods, Operations and Project Management, Introduction to Management and Business, a capstone consulting course, and additional analytics electives. Teaching load can range from 9 to 12 credit hours per semester in the Department of Management. The selectee, in coordination with other faculty, will develop (as appropriate) syllabi, course readings, assignments, class projects, and other pedagogical assessments of student learning and assessments of course outcomes. The selectee will also participate in planning and co-curricular aspects of the courses as necessary. In coordination with other faculty and staff members, the selectee will also be expected to participate directly with maintenance of the Department's AACSB accreditation. Major duties will also include advising cadets and participation in leadership and professional development activities with students outside of class and in service to the Academy.

    Minimum degree requirements: A doctorate such as Ph.D. or D.BA in Supply Chain Management or a closely related fie3ld. Doctoral candidates in "ABD" status are required to provide documentation that they will complete the terminal degree by August 1, 2020.

    Minimum specialized experience: Candidates must meet two of the sub-requirements of a "scholarly academic" according to AACSB guidelines and the Department of Management's definition for faculty qualifications. Specifically, this means the applicant must demonstrate:

    • Evidence of in-discipline scholarship or intellectual contributions. Scholarly activity/research/intellectual contributions may include (not an exhaustive list): monographs, scholarly books/chapters, textbooks, proceedings from scholarly meetings, papers presented at faculty research seminars, publication in trade journals, in-house journals, book reviews, written cases with instructional materials, instructional software, and other publically available materials describing the design and implementation of new curricula or courses in the relevant field of discipline; and
    • At least one of the listed items for scholarly activity/research/intellectual contributions must be recent within the five preceding years.

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, preferred candidates will have:

    • Degree(s) from AACSB-accredited programs. While Supply Chain Management (or a related field) is the required discipline, competitive candidates will also have an education/background necessary to teach an introductory Marketing course. Therefore, candidates with cross-disciplinary expertise in Supply Chain Management, Marketing, and other core Management disciplines are highly desired.
    • Experience working with a diverse student body, and demonstrated contributions to student learning and development outside of the classroom.
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and leadership development at the undergraduate level.
    • Potential to further the mission of the Coast Guard Academy through professional recognition via professional service, research, and/or education outreach are preferable.
    • Successful interpersonal and communications skills.
    • A record that demonstrates strong teamwork skills and a desire to work in a diverse and collaborative environment is highly desired.
    • Classroom experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations, and/or experience promoting diversity initiatives, including efforts at creating communities of inclusion.
    • Demonstrated experience consistent with full commitment to the Coast Guard core values.
