    Dear all,

    Dr. Jury Gualandris at the Ivey Business School (Western University, London, Canada) is seeking to fill a postdoctoral fellowship in Operations and Supply Chain Management, ideally with an interest in the Circular Economy. The post-doctoral researcher will support our Circular Economy Lighthouse Project, which explores the operational, organizational and institutional factors influencing the integration of waste synergies[1] into existing supply chains, and the implications for competitiveness and resilience. Led by Prof. Jury Gualandris in collaboration with Prof. Deishin Lee, this project is sponsored by and grounded in the 'Our Food Future' Project by City of Guelph and Wellington County.

    The ideal candidate will exhibit the following:

    • Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research – prior experiences with case-based research and or scraping and coding Big Data in Python or R are particularly valuable;
    • Comfort and credibility writing for and communicating with corporate executives;
    • Outstanding organizational and communication skills;
    • A defended dissertation within six months of commencing employment. If the dissertation is completed, but not yet defended, it is possible that an interim research contract can be arranged.

    The candidate's activities will include administratively supporting the Circular Economy Lighthouse Project, mapping and analyzing the emergence and functioning of waste synergies that often cross organizational and industrial boundaries, and writing technical reports and research-related articles pertaining to the research.

    The candidate will join a vibrant operations and business sustainability community within the Centre for Building Sustainable Value at the Ivey Business School. The Centre for Building Sustainable Value is also the home of the Network for Business Sustainability (NBS), which aims to bridge research and practice to advance sustainability.

    The position will remain open until it is filled with a suitable candidate. The start date is flexible, but ideally the candidate would start in Spring 2021. Compensation will be $65,000Cdn per year along with an additional research/travel stipend. The position is for 1 year with a 6-month probationary period. The position could be extended to three years, pending availability of additional funding and satisfactory performance.

    The position is based at the Ivey Business School in London, Ontario. However, with current pandemic-related restrictions, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will work remotely for an initial period. This will involve conducting research and other activities through virtual meetings. Ideally the situation will allow for in-person research in the second half of 2021

    If you are interested in the position, please send the following to Jury Gualandris (jgualandris@ivey.ca):

    • a copy of your CV and contact information for two academic references;
    • a cover letter that describes how your education, training and experience meet the four bullet points above – please elaborate on how your methodological skills can support our research on waste synergies.
    • your research interests.

    [1] Waste synergies are broadly defined as instances where a firm is sourcing and processing another firm's waste streams to create economic, environmental and social value.
