    Dear OSCM Colleagues,

I hope that you and your loved ones are doing well during these unprecedented times.

The purpose of this communication is to provide you with an update on the 2020 AOM Annual Meeting and the OSCM Division's plans. You should have already received communication from AOM about the cancellation of the physical conference in Vancouver and the move to an abridged virtual annual conference (with registration fee of $200 for faculty and $100 for students). AOM's plan is to keep most sessions from the initially planned program as "asynchronous" which means authors have the option to upload papers and videos, and participants may comment or give feedback on a platform provided by AOM. Each Division is given the opportunity to choose a small subset of the planned program (approximately 10%) to be "synchronous", meaning live presentations with participant interaction occurring in real-time.

All Divisions, including OSCM, are making tough choices about what they can practically offer synchronously given that contributors and participants are dispersed across several time zones, and many are facing unexpected challenges at this time. The OSCM Division leadership team is striving to offer a synchronous program that is stimulating even if it is not as comprehensive as would be possible with a traditional physical format. While planning for the virtual conference is still ongoing and many details are yet to be determined, the OSCM leadership team is tentatively targeting the following synchronous program to occur August 7-11, 2020:

    • Three best paper sessions: Best Student Paper, Chan Hahn Best Paper, and Best SCM Paper.
    • One co-sponsored symposium: "Broadening the Sight Lines of Supply Chain Management Research Through Discourse Analysis" organized by Vikram Bhakoo.
    • One professional development workshop (PDW): "Common Methodological Problems in Operations Management Research and How They Can Be Addressed" organized by Mikko Rönkkö.
    • The OSCM Division Joint Doctoral Student & Junior Faculty Consortium.

All sessions not listed above may be included in the asynchronous part of the AOM program at the submitter's discretion. As details are finalized, AOM will be providing more information about this process.

In the coming weeks, you will receive additional information and updates from AOM and the OSCM Division regarding the virtual program. We look forward to engaging with you virtually in August!

    Best regards,

    Sean Handley
